On November 1, 2019, 72 participants of the “Socio-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” project of the Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization (Aleppo-NGO) headed to the Saint Sarkis Church of Argavand following the invitation of Priest Grigor Hovhannisyan. On their way to Argavand, the pilgrims stopped by Yerablur military cemetery, to pay tribute and pray for the souls of the victims that died defending our country. Afterwards, the participants headed to Argavand, where Priest Grigor was already waiting for them․ The Priest represnted the history of the Church.
The pilgrims attended the Liturgy, enjoying the heavenly singing of gospels by the “Unit of Hope” of the Surb Zoravor Astvatsatsin Church. Afterwards, during the reception at the reverend’s house the participants had interesting conversations on different spiritual topics.
Dzovig Makarian-Baytarian, the Co-Founding Vice President of Aleppo-NGO made a speech as well, thanking everyone, the Priest Grigor and the Women’s Committee of Saint Sarkis Church especially, for making the day so memorable for the participants of the “Socio-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” project. Presenting the last year’s achievements of the Project, Dzovig Makarian- Baitarian mentioned that the Organization is celebrating its sixth anniversary this year. On this occasion members of the project had prepared gifts for the reverend.
Priest Grigor Hovhannisyan gave saint icons to the participants. At the end of the meeting the donation collected by the members of the project was returned to the participants by Priest Grigor Hovhannisyan. Maral Karakashian and Yeghsa Mihranian-Dedeyan made their donation so that everyone’s covenant will be fulfilled.
As a reminder, the free socio-psychological assistance meetings at Aleppo-NGO provide support to Syrians who went through the war and find themselves experiencing psychological side effects, helping them to recover and become actively involved in the civil life of Armenia.
