“Better Future for Syrian Armenian Youth” Project Teaches Effective Communication and CV Writing

On June 18, 2018, “Aleppo” Compatriotic charitable non-governmental organization (Aleppo-NGO) organized a workshop titled “Effective Communication and CV/Resume Writing” within the framework of “Better Future for Syrian-Armenian Youth” project. The guest speaker of the workshop was Dr.Asbed Kitchikian.

The organization of the workshop was made possible through the joint efforts of “Aleppo” Compatriotic charitable non-governmental organization (Aleppo-NGO) and WCC Armenian Round Table Foundation (ART).

Avo Aposhian, one of the active Syrian, welcomed the participants and introduced the guest speaker Dr.Asbed Kotchikian who is a political science professor at Bentley University, in Waltham, MA. The presentation commenced with the “dos and don’ts” of public speaking and presenting ideas using PowerPoint. According to Kotchikian, learning how to properly present will not only help us in our studies but also in job interviews.

The workshop came to an end with a presentation on how to write a proper CV and resume. The participants were very happy to take part in this workshop and they did not hesitate to ask follow up questions regarding the workshop. This led to a meaningful discussion on how to improve our public speaking skills. One of the participants of the workshop shared about her experience: “I think it was a great workshop that I learned a lot from. I work as an administrative assistant at a local firm and preparing presentations is part of my job. I learned a lot about how to make more effective presentations”.

“Better Future for Syrian-Armenian Youth” project aims to empower Syrian-Armenian youth, who escaped the ongoing conflict in Syria and settled in Armenia, through training and capacity building activities.
