On 5 October 2018, in the framework of the program “Social-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees,” Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization (Aleppo-NGO) hosted pediatrician Madlen Shamlian. Dr. Shamlian is one of the Aleppo-Armenian doctors who moved to Armenia as a result of the Syrian conflict. She had graduated from the University of Aleppo in the Faculty of Medicine, receiving a pediatrician qualification, and then she also worked as a lecturer at the same university. Dr. Shamlian had a private clinic in Aleppo and authored the theses “Acne” and “Iron Deficiency in Children”.

Dr. Shamlian who works at Sourb Astvatsamayr (St. Mary) Medical Centre (SAMC) as a pediatrician, presented the reasons of blood pressure.

She also talked about the dangers of stress and bad diet and provided the attendees with advice on measures to be taken in case of high blood pressure.

The attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions for Dr. Shamlian.

As a reminder, the free socio-psychological assistance meetings at Aleppo-NGO provide support to Syrians who went through the war and find themselves experiencing psychological side effects, helping them to recover and become actively involved in the civil life of Armenia.

At meetings, the priest and various speakers give lectures. The meetings take place every Friday at the Aleppo-NGO office. The address is 11 Northern Avenue, -1 floor (entrance from Abovyan street).
