Regular Meeting of “Social-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” Project

Օn 02 November,  2018, Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization (Aleppo-NGO) organized a regular meeting to provide social-psychological support to Syrian refugees in Armenia.

The guest speaker of the meeting is well-known to us – spiritual pastor, Fr.  Pargev Priest Palgevorgyan of Saint Hakob Church from Araratian Pontifical Diocesein Mrgavan village, who launched the meeting with a prayer.

Fr.  Pargev continued to speak about gluttony,  which is the 6th of  7  deadly sins of Armenian Apostolic Church.

Gluttony is unlimited addiction to food, when a person is not able to understand and feel his satisfaction.

Fr.  Pargev quoted from the Bible, by noting that greed borns gluttony. Jesus says. “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”  (Matthew 4:4).  Gluttony seems to be against Jesus, as it says the contrary “Man lives on bread only”. Food is a means not an aim, while for glutton food becomes the main goal.

In the end, the participants came up with questions in their concern and got answers.

As a reminder, the free socio-psychological assistance meetings at Aleppo-NGO provide support to Syrians who went through the war and find themselves experiencing psychological side effects, helping them to recover and become actively involved in the civil life of Armenia.

At the meetings, the priest (APD) and various speakers give lectures. The meetings take place every Friday, at 16:00, at the Aleppo-NGO office. The address is 11 Northern Avenue, -1 floor (entrance from Abovyan street).
