The Causes and Consequences of Global Warming were Discussed within the Framework of the “Social-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” Project

On 8 February 2019, Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization (Aleppo-NGO) organized a regular meeting to provide social-psychological support to Syrian refugees sheltered in Armenia.

The guest speaker was biologist and neurolinguist, Hagob Makdis, who graduated from Aleppo State University with the specialty of Bioresources Management.

The speaker presented one of the world’s major problems – global warming. He spoke about its emergence, consequences, and how to prevent it.

Besides associations and organizations, individuals may also cause global warming. Each liter of petrol or kerosene consumed by drivers brings people closer to catastrophic environmental consequences. Global warming causes rising seas and coastal flooding, destruction of homes, natural habitat degradation, and forced migration.

Scientists state that if people create more sun or wind energy, humanity will be able to avoid a global environmental catastrophe enabling our generation to live healthily on the clean planet.

As a reminder, the free socio-psychological assistance meetings at Aleppo-NGO provide support to Syrians who went through the war and find themselves experiencing psychological side effects, helping them to recover and become actively involved in the civil life of Armenia.

At the meetings, the priest (APD) and various speakers give lectures.
The meetings take place every Friday, at 16:00, at the Aleppo-NGO office.
The address is 11 Northern Avenue, -1 floor (entrance from Abovyan street).
