Project implementers of Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization’s latest initiative entitled “Social-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees”, would like to wish all a happy International Women’s Day.

On March 8th, 2019, Aleppo-NGO hosted a meeting for project participants. 46 members attended the meeting, as well as guest speaker Marlen Daragyozian — a specialist in floriography from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in Lebanon.

The meeting commenced with remarks by founding member and Vice President of Aleppo-NGO, Dzovig Makarian-Baytarian. She wished attendees a happy International Women’s Day, full of good health, harmony, and peace in every household.

Ms. Daragyozian then began her presentation on one of the most important symbols of International Women’s Day – the flower. She provided attendees with a fascinating and practical overview of floriography: the metaphors and symbols behind certain flowers related to their specific characteristics, as well as instructions for storing and caring for flowers.  The lecture was followed by a highly interactive and informative Q&A session with audience members.

Later, Ms. Makarian-Baytarian expressed her gratitude towards the tireless efforts of Zaruhi Hamalian, who for the last year, has volunteered to organize and initiate the “Social-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” program. Ms. Hamalian’s time with the organization will soon come to an end, due to her impending travel plans.

Meanwhile, Aleppo-NGO Founding President Ani Balkhian thanked Ms. Hamalian, wishing her a safe flight, and success in future endeavors.

In turn, Ms. Hamalian expressed her gratitude towards the board for the unique opportunity to work with Aleppo-NGO for this short, yet productive period.

The meeting continued with a brief overview  of the organization’s upcoming projects by Ms. Makarian-Baytarian, followed by an exchange of ideas and suggestions.

The meeting concluded with an open-buffet and small celebration for  International Women’s Day. Ms. Taguhi Petrossian, Mr. Petros Kirazian, Ms. Zaruhi Hamalian, Ms. Talin Chemberjian, Ms. Sosi Nalchajian and members of Aleppo-NGO all took part in the meeting and International Women’s Day celebration.

As a reminder, Aleppo-NGO’s “Social-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” program is organized free of charge. The aim of the meetings is to provide support to those who lived through the conflict in Syria and continue to struggle with psychological side effects. The program’s mission is to assist in survivors’ rehabilitation and help them reintegrate into Armenian civil life.

Professors and lecturers will be invited to these gatherings to share their knowledge and experiences with attendees.
