Members of “Socio-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” Project Strolled in Parks of Yerevan

On June 14, 2019, 55 members of the “Socio-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” project of the Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization (Aleppo-NGO) visited different parks in Yerevan – the Kirov Children’s Park (created in 1933), Theatre Park or English Park that was the first park in Yerevan, founded in 1850, but officially inaugurated in 1910 and the recently opened beautiful park dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan (founded by donation of the Vardanyan family).

Dzovig Makarian-Baitarian, Co-Founder and Vice-President of Aleppo-NGO, represented brief histories of parks to the presentees and mentioned important historical remarks of memorials, sculptures and busts as well.

Members planned in advance to have physical exercises in park near Sundukyan State Academic Theatre and invited trainer Sosi Semerchian-Khshauchian to join them.

The presentees worked out with great enthusiasm and satisfaction. Nature had its positive impact on the training process and, indeed, permeated into the inner world of each member.

The meeting was attended by Salpi Agarakian who shared her medical knowledge and experience with the participants.

At the end, members enjoyed hospitality extended to them by Maria Nalshachian.

As a reminder, Aleppo-NGO’s “Social-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” program is organized free of charge. The aim of the meetings is to provide support to those who lived through the conflict in Syria and continue to struggle with psychological side effects. The program’s mission is to assist in survivors’ rehabilitation and help them reintegrate into Armenian civil life.
