Healthy Food: “Socio-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” Project

On June 28, 2019, a regular meeting of the “Socio-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” project of Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization (Aleppo-NGO) took place with the participation of 53 members. Dzovig Magarian-Baitarian, Co-Founder and Vice President of Aleppo-NGO, made the opening speech representing the main agenda of the meeting.

This time the guest of the meeting was nutritionist and dietician Shaghig Minassian. Shaghig has studied in Syria and Lebanon, now is a lecturer in the Haybusak University of Yerevan and works in the “Med Info” program on “Shant” TV as a dietician. 

Shaghig Minassian represented the features of healthy lifestyle in details, spoke about widespread myths on healthy food and their negative consequences, after which explained recent research and discoveries about this topic. She recommended the presentees to get rid of harmful habits and different, unreliable methods of weight loss since they can create serious illnesses. The dietician advised to combine healthy eating with physical exercises for improving metabolism. Shaghig Minassian guarantees that love and consistency will definitely bring progress and positive results to everyone.

The guest responded to the questions of the attendees concerning the usefulness and calories  of widely used food, fruits and liquids and gave professional guidelines for drafting correct and healthy diet, avoiding mistakes and maintaining health.

At the end of the meeting Shaghig Minassian represented her personal page on Facebook (HealthNut by Shaghig Minassian/ Դիետոլոգ Շաղիկ Մինասյան) noting that she will respond with pleasure to all questions and concerns regarding healthy food and diets.

As a reminder, Aleppo-NGO’s  “Social-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” program is organized free of charge. The aim of the meetings is to provide support to those who lived through the conflict in Syria and continue to struggle with psychological side effects. The program’s mission is to assist in survivors’ rehabilitation and help them reintegrate into Armenian civil life.

The meetings feature lectures by priests and various speakers. Meetings take place every Friday, at 16:00, at the Aleppo-NGO office. The address is 11 Northern Avenue, -1 floor (entrance located on Abovyan street).
