Sardarapat, Gharaqilisa, Bash-Aparan. The First Republic of Armenia

The 4th online meeting of the “Social Psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” project of Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization took place on Friday, 29 May 2020, at 13:00, with the participation of 23 members. The meeting was dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia.

Welcoming the participants, Dzovig Makarian-Baitarian, Co-Founding Vice-President of Aleppo-NGO congratulated those present for the Independence Day and spoke about the significance of the day and the most important events related to it: Bash Aparan, Gharaqilisa and Sardarapat. Afterward, Salpi Karagulian, a volunteer member of the Coordinating body presented a historical overview of the independence gained as a result of the heroism of the Armenian people and the establishment of the First Republic in 1918.

Salpi Karagulian also touched on a second topic: the attitude of a person towards “emergency situations”, such as the alarm created by the COVID-19 in this period, mentioning that the best way to overcome any alarm is to be optimistic and positive, to maintain optimism and to convey it to each other and accept what is useful and instructive. Afterward, discussion on the topic and exchange of views were made among the members.

As a reminder, the free socio-psychological assistance meetings at Aleppo-NGO provide support to Syrians who went through the war and find themselves experiencing psychological side effects, helping them to recover and become actively involved in the civil life of Armenia.

During these meetings, lecturers of different professions are invited to share their knowledge and experience with the participants.

The meetings take place every Friday at 13:00, at Aleppo-NGO’s office. The address is 11 Northern Avenue, -1 floor (entrance from Abovyan street).

The meetings are free for participation. Due to the Coronavirus, under the emergency situation, the meetings are being organized online.
