Donors/Partners: The Embassy of the United States of America in Armenia

Implementing Organization: Aleppo-NGO

Project Duration: September 2015 – August 2016

Major Goal: To strengthen the knowledge and abilities of Syrian youth residing in Yerevan to build a better future in Armenia.

Description: This one year project launched in September 2015. The project included a training program, seminars, workshops, debates, discussions and massive open online courses (MOOCs). The main topics of the education program were volunteering, social responsibility, conflict resolution, democratic development, leadership and human rights. More than 100 young Syrians were enrolled and attended the classes.

The Syrian Youth Participation Center (SYPC) was established in the framework of this project to ensure future sustainability. The SYPC is equipped with computers, printers, internet connection and library to facilitate ease of access to information and resources for Syrians. The center also serves as a stable means for integrating the Syrian young people residing in Yerevan into the local community and supports equal opportunities for education.

Programs of this nature have proved to be highly effective towards the integration process of Syrians in Armenia.
