On May 31, 2019, 52 members of the “Socio-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” project of the Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization (Aleppo-NGO) gathered in the renovated garden of the Mashtots Avenue, after which moved to the Hrazdan canyon. The participants visited the children’s park and “Hayrenik” station.
After interesting and useful physical exercises, the participants started the celebration of Ascension and doctor Mayta Chavushian represented the meaning and significance of the holiday. Flowerpot, drawing lots, pilgrimage and ritual meals are the main customs of the holiday. Following the tradition the presentees drew lots, which was accompanied by the song “Hanik ninar”.
As a reminder, Aleppo-NGO’s “Social-psychological Assistance to Syrian Refugees” program is organized free of charge. The aim of the meetings is to provide support to those who lived through the conflict in Syria and continue to struggle with psychological side effects. Thematic meetings, cultural – cognitive visits are organized within the framework of the program. This kind of events contribute to the socio-psychological rehabilitation of Syrian-Armenian women and promote their social-cultural, psychological, physical, educational and scientific development.
