On April 6th, 2018, Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Organization (Aleppo-NGO) yet again welcomed Syrian-Armenian women within the framework of Socio-Psychological Assistance meetings. The guest speaker of the meeting was Hagop Makdis Mouso, a biologist and specialist in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, who spoke about Neurolinguistics planning and effective ways of problem-solving.
The conversation began with an engaging demonstration of how powerful body language can be. We then moved to a discussion on how the brain processes hearing much slower than sight, since when we listen to something it will have to pass through many channels in our brain before it comprehends what’s happening. Hagop went on to emphasize how important it is to always keep a positive attitude and train our body language to be positive.
Afterward, Mr. Makdis moved on to discussing effective problem-solving. The main goals of this discussion were to learn how to prepare our brain to solve problems in a fast and efficient manner. According to the guest speaker, the first step is finding who is responsible for the issue and to clearly define the problem. The second step is to identify the cause of the problem, which helps move on to the third step coming up with multiple solutions. Once the solutions are laid out, we pick the most effective one and try and improve it further.
The discussion came to a close by a couple of comparisons on how big companies such as Disney utilize different techniques to effectively resolve problems.
The free of charge, socio-psychological assistance meetings at Aleppo-NGO provide support to Syrians who went through the war and find themselves experiencing psychological side effects, helping them to recover and become actively involved in the civil life of Armenia.
The meetings take place every Friday at the Aleppo-NGO office. The address is 11 Northern Avenue, -1 floor.
